Blueprint Description[]
A rattle can keep an infant occupied for hours on end. In this challenge, ones made from soda bottles and gumballs will keep a full-grown adult busy for less than a minute, we hope. Using the shake, rattle, and roll method, the contestant must transport all the gumballs from one container to the other, all the while trying to prevent a bubblegum bottleneck.
Game Description[]
Contestant transfers gumballs from the filled sides of two 2-liter bottles to the empty sides of two attached 2-liter bottles.
History[]
This is a level 1 challenge.
Household Items:[]
- (4) Empty 2-liter bottles

Rules:[]
1. Player may not switch which hands are holding the bottles during the game.
2. Player may not break apart the bottles or hit them against the table, each other, or the body.
3. To complete the game, player must transfer all gumballs from the beginning bottles to the final bottles with both sets resting on the table and hands free within the 60-second time limit.
Tips/Tricks[]
This game sounds pretty easy, but there are a couple of things you can do to make it run more smoothly. First, grab the bottles with your hands twisted, so that when you flip them over your grip will be more comfortable. Secondly, if you run into a bottleneck situation where the gumballs get stuck, shake the bottles vigorously and then swirl them to get a whirlpool effect going.
- Shake, rattle, and roll method: This involves shaking the bottles vigorously to move the gumballs from one bottle to the other. This method works best when the gumballs are small and can easily roll around in the bottles.
- Shake the bottles more vigorously: If the gumballs are getting stuck, try shaking the bottles more vigorously to loosen them and get them moving again. You can also try shaking the bottles at different angles to see if that helps.
